selected destination
Beach of Uruau - Brazil
Uruau

Uruau is located 85km south from Fortaleza and is truly a secret gem along the coast. From Uruau, you can kitesurf flat water lagoons or in the open ocean. You can play in river mouths or downwind to the “secret spot”, for an incredible day. The kite center is fantastic and has a lawn, swimming pool, kitesurf school, bar, restaurant and super chill atmosphere.

Kiteboarding in Cumbuco, Brazil
Cumbuco

About 45 minutes from the Fortaleza airport is Cumbuco, arguably “Kite Central” in Ceara. Cumbuco has a wonderful and varied selection of accommodations, as well as bars, restaurants, shops and markets. Kitesurfing in Cumbuco is open water. There is the famous Cauipe lagoon, accessible by buggy or by downwinder, and other kite spots are easy day trips away.

Visit Taiba, Brazil
Taiba

Small, quiet and charming, Taiba is just up the coast from Cumbuco and about an hour or so from Fortaleza. Taiba has a small lagoon and you can kitesurf downwind to Paracuru – one of the best downwinders on the coast!
For accommodations, choose from a fantastic,  beachfront posada, a small, chic and charming pousada or a beautiful beachfront home.  Taiba has a nice selection of bars and restaurants.

Have fun in Paracuru, Brazil
Paracuru

Paracuru has some of the best kitesurfing conditions on the coast. If you like waves, Paracuru (Taiba) is the place to be!  Downwinders to Paracuru are amazing and worth repeating.
Paracuru does not have beachfront accommodations- all pousadas/hotels/apartments are in town, about 10 minutes’ drive from the beach.

Guajiru Kitesurfing, brazil
Guajiru

Guajiru is a well kept secret – a jewel in the coastal crown! Located about two hours from Cumbuco and just next to the cool village of Fleicheras, Guajiru is upscale and chill with a great vibe. Kitesurfing in Guajiru is wonderfully uncrowded. Ride just there or take a buggy upwind, ride the lagoon at high tide, then downwind back home. Awesome.
Accommodations in Guajiru are wonderful – beachfront hotel, beautiful pousada 100m from the sea or beachfront home.

Icaraizinho beaches, brazil
Icaraizinho

Uncrowded. Ride just there or take a buggy upwind, ride the lagoon at high tide, then downwind back home. Awesome.
Accommodations in Guajiru are wonderful – beachfront hotel, beautiful pousada 100m from the sea or beachfront home.

kiboarding in Ilhao do Guajiru
Ilha do Guajiru

Not to be confused with Guajiru, Ilha do Guajiru is a flat water paradise. Huge, tidal lagoon (inlet) can accommodate a lot of kites, so no worry about it getting too packed. If you want to kitesurf some waves or downwind, no problem – accommodations are beachfront and access is easy. You can choose rustic or chic – both are very, very cool. Ilha do Guajiru is a great destination or stop on the coast.

Prea Beach and Kitesurf
Prea

Located 12km upwind from Jericoacoara, Prea is absolutely stunning and magnificent- and where the kitesurfing is! There is no kiting in Jeri itself, but getting back and forth is easy with a buggy and driver. For many, a stay in Prea is the highlight of the kitesurfing holiday adventure.

Jericoacoara, melow holidays
Jericoacoara

Jeri, as it is more commonly known, is just a really cool, hippie-chic village about 4.5 hours drive from Fortaleza. Phenomenal beaches, great parties, bars, restaurants, shops and lots of wind! Many choose to stay in Prea and travel to Jeri for the nightlife; but many, as well, choose to stay in Jeri and travel to kite! With a buggy and driver, the back and forth, for kiting or evening pleasures, is easy. Either way, you win.

Barra Grande

Just a few hours downwind from Jericoacoara is the up-and-coming Barra Grande, a small village with amazing flat water kiting and a super cool vibe!  Kiting in and around Barra Grande is a completely different experience from the more known destinations on the coast – lots of flat water (SO smooth at low tides!) and downwinders to huge sand spits and mangrove forests.  There are quite a few accommodation options in Barra Grande, with more on the way.  This piece of the NE coast, up to Atins, is what’s next.

Atins Kitesurfing
Atins

This beautiful, rustic, lesser known village is across the river from the more famous Caburé – and offers superb accommodations and services as well as some incredible adventures!  Atins sits at one of the entry points to the Lençois Maranhenses, one of the most stunning and unique landscapes in the world.  (See kiting photo at top of our page.)  Atins is a point of interest in this northeastern region of Brazil, and a stop on the famous Rota das Emoçoes.  Ozone Travel offers spectacular downwinders that begin in Fortaleza and head up to Jericoacoara, through Barra Grande to Atins, finishing in the city of São Luis. Think you’ve downwinded the NE coast?  Think again.

Sao Luis, Brazil
São Luís

The capital of Maranhau, São Luís was founded by the French back in the 17th Century. Today, this coastal city boasts the largest and best preserved heritage of colonial Portuguese architecture in all of Latin America.  The São Luís airport, SLZ, services many large international airports, connecting Brazil to North America and Europe.

If you’ve been lucky enough to downwind from Jericoacoara, or, better, from Fortaleza, you’ll want to fly out of SLZ.  But first spend a night or two.

Kite and culuture in Rio de Jaineiro
Rio de jaineiro

The amazing city of Rio de Janeiro is most famous for its towering Christ the Redeemer statue on the mountaintop, Pao de Azucar (Sugarloaf Mountain), and the Copacabana boardwalk, but most of us love it for its beautiful beaches! You will not see this kind of scenery in any other city in the world. You can even kitesurf in Barra, only 20 minutes from where most hotels are; on occasion, we get wind along the main beaches, and you can kite right off of Ipanema and Leblon beaches! There are many upscale hotels, charming boutique hotels and everything in between. It’s a must-see stop on any trip to Brazil!

kite_dest_rota
Rota das Emoções

The name says it all!

This incredible, unique itinerary is one of the best in Brazil – and it has some of the best kiting, as well! (Waves, flat water, incredible beauty and no one around!)  The downwinder starts in Jericoacoara and travels to Camocim, Barra Grande, Luis Correia, the Delta do Rio Parnaiba and the stunning Lençois Maranhenses.  It’s kiting, ecoadventure, culture, comfort and cuisine.  And it’s an unparalleled experience.

We cover even more kiteboarding friendly places, feel free to contact us telling where you want to go, and we will get you covered.
